La Casa Museo Maria Reiche, is a house-museum inaugurated in 1994. It is located in Nazca. It has information about studies of the Nazca lines and figures, carried out by Dr. Maria Reiche Newman, as well as maps, plans, photos, archaeological material and a didactic model of her designs. In this place he lived and carried out his main studies. In a garden next door is the tomb of the researcher who died in 1998 at the age of 95 in Lima.
Maria Reiche began a life dedicated to the study and investigation of the Nazca lines in 1946, stimulated by the studies of the American archaeologist Paul Kosok. Mathematics, geography and physics were of great interest to her. For this reason, in 1992 the government granted her the title of honorary citizen of Peru, which was made official with her definitive nationalization the following year.
